    (IANS)

India's Leander Paes and Cara Black of Zimbabwe, seeded second, crashed out of the US Open tennis mixed doubles quarterfinals.

Paes and Black, the 2008 champions, lost 3-6, 4-6 to Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany and Mark Knowles of the Bahamas.

Paes is already out of the men's doubles race. Paes and Czech Lukas Dlouhy, the defending men's doubles champions, bowed out in the first round.

Rohan Bopanna is now the lone Indian competing at Flushing Meadows. He and Pakistan's Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi are seeded 16th in the men's doubles and play 10th seeded Wesley Moodie of South Africa and Dick Norman of Belgium.

Mahesh Bhupathi has already made an exit from his doubles and mixed doubles events.

Sania Mirza and Somdev Devvarman also suffered early losses in women's and men's singles events. Sania lost in the first round of women's doubles.
