The John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California has been given permission to once again run flights to and from the Hawaiian islands.

Direct flights from John Wayne Airport to the islands were chopped two years ago.

Local residents have said they are happy with the announcement as it will mean they don’t have to go to Los Angeles airport to fly to Hawaii.

The non-stop service begins this week.
