    Russia's Yaroslavl city turns 1,000

    Russia's historical city of Yaroslavl is celebrating its 1,000th anniversary this weekend.

    The city founded by Prince Yaroslav the Wise in 1010, is known for many distinguished people who lived and worked here, including the world's first female cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova and poet Nikolay Nekrasov.

    Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will be taking part in the Sep 10-12 celebrations in the city, 250 km from Moscow, Xinhua reported Friday.
