French warship carrying aid now off coast of Myanmar
    Cincinnati Sun

    (IANS)

A French warship carrying 1,000 tonnes of aid for cyclone victims in Myanmar is off the south coast of the devastated Irrawaddy delta, the French Defence Ministry said in Paris Saturday.

Negotiations were under way with the authorities in Myanmar on whether and how the aid aboard the Mistral would be brought ashore.
The aid includes food for 100,000 people for 15 days and emergency accommodation for 60,000 people.
The French move was denounced by Myanmar Friday before the UN General Assembly in New York, which charged that the French were sending a warship.
Official estimates say that Cyclone Nargis killed almost 78,000 people when it struck Myanmar two weeks ago. Aid agencies have said the toll could rise to 130,000.
The country's military regime has been blocking access by a larger number of international aid workers and insists that material aid be delivered to the government for redistribution.
A French attempt to have a UN resolution passed calling for the forceful delivery of aid failed due to opposition from China.

    Don't send aid using warships.

Why are these western countries using warships to send aid to myanmar, knowing for sure they would not be allowed in. They are toying with the lives of victims in doing so. Are they really sincere in helping. Now I have my doubts.

If ever the French could bring the aid ashore, the aid should be handed out by the French or the aid agency workers, international or local, and the monks directly to the intended cyclone survivors. Never believe the Burmese military, police and their ward councils. Please learn the lesson from the past. They are too cunning and shameless.

    Why waiting?

Military junta will never agree any negotiation made by Western countries. The world has wasted the precious time resulted in death of many more Burmese people in past two weeks. Since all Burmese people need help and they are willingly hoping urgent humanitarian intervention from the capable countries I don’t understand why France or US or UK or any other country awaiting unfavorable response from military junta who’s intentionally killing their own people just to hold the power.
