Ponte Vedra, Florida, May 11 (IANS) Daniel Chopra endured a topsy-turvy round of one-over 73 that dropped him at the tied 20th position at the $9.5 million Players Championship here.

The Indian-born Swede, currently 21st on the Professional Golf Association (PGA) Tour Money List, had identical rounds of 72 on first two days and slipped from overnight 16th.

Chopra had an action-packed day as he had just three pars in the first 14 holes. Opening with a bogey on first, he was two-over after fourth, but birdies on the fifth and sixth brought him to even par.

A bogey on eighth hole saw him turn in one-over and then he dropped another shot on the 10th to find himself in two-over . But birdies on 11th and 12th brought him back at even, before a bogey on 14th saw him again at one-over, which is where he stayed with pars on last four holes.

American Paul Goydos held a one shot lead after three rounds to stay on track for his third PGA Tour title.

Goydos, 43, carded a two-under-par 70 to take his total score at seven-under 209, one shot ahead of second placed Kenny Perry (72).

Spaniard Sergio Garcia (73), who played alongside Goydos for much of the round, bogeyed four of the last six holes to find himself at the third spot at four under.

Defending champion Phil Mickelson was a further two strokes adrift in a tied fourth position after firing a 71 that featured five birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey.
